Advanced IV and inhalant anaesthesia (AN31)

The 1st module of the 3rd level (advanced) anaesthesia course (AN31) dealing with TCI and quantitative inhalant anaesthesia will be held in Zola Predosa (Bologna) from 7th to 9th of April.

Although a TCI pump for veterinary use has not been released yet, in small animals TCI is administered using a TCI software connected to a syringe pump (TCI system). Basic understanding of PK-PD models for propofol and opioids will improve clinical use of the system. In addition, good knowledge of the software is required to prevent set-up errors which may result in accidents and complications.

Low flow anaesthesia may result in benefits for the patient and the environment, however it involves good knowledge of physics and anaesthetic monitoring. The module will deal with advanced carbon dioxide, oxygen and agent monitoring, including waveform analysis.
