Spinal anaesthesia and ventilatory support for thoracic surgery (AN32)

The 2nd module of the 3rd level anaesthesia course (AN32) has been postponed until 5th to 7th of November. It will deal with spinal anaesthesia and ventilation for thoracic surgery. The venue will be the Futuravet Referral Centre in Tolentino (Macerata).

Spinal anaesthesia has specific indications and contraindications, and it is not an alternative to a failed epidural anaesthesia. Difference with epidural anaesthesia in needle and drug selection, dosing, indications and contraindications, and haemodynamic effects will be discussed.

Insights into ventilatory support for thoracic surgery will be provided, including physiology of the open thorax, NMBAs, one lung ventilation, and lung protective ventilation strategies.

More details in the ISVRA CPD calendar (PDF; pages 7-15 and 30). To register e-mail ISVRA a filled registration form (interactive PDF, click the ‘Registration form’ button above).
