COURSES

Safe inhalant anaesthesia and ventilatory support (AN12)

Paediatric anaesthetist at work

The first (basic) level anaesthesia course (AN12) on inhalant anaesthesia and ventilatory support will be held online the 9th and 10th of September 2020.

Lectures will focus on anaesthetic machine, respiratory systems, basic monitoring (clinical, capnography, pulse oximetry), and respiratory physiology.

The practical session will go online via Zoom the 17th of September, and will include management of clinical cases undergoing GA from Veterinaria Trastevere in Rome.

To register fill in the "registration form" (interactive PDF) and send it to ISVRA along with payment proof of the pre-registration fee (250 Euro). Please refer to the "ISVRA CPD calendar" for more info about this module and for registration to the entire course (3 modules, reduced fee available).

Registration deadline: POSTPONED to 25th of August.

Inhalant anaesthesia and IPPV for anaesthetists (AN22)

Electronic aneasthetic machine

The second (advanced) level anaesthesia course (AN22) will be held online the 7th and 8th of September 2020.

Lecture topics will include an overview of most popular mechanical ventilators, IPPV settings, PEEP indications and contraindications, halothane vs isoflurane vs sevoflurane, ET-agent monitoring and MAC in dogs and cats, and inhalant induction and recovery strategies.

The practical session will go online via Zoom the 16th of September from Veterinaria Trastevere in Rome, and will include management of clinical cases undergoing GA.

To register fill in the "registration form" (interactive PDF) and send it to ISVRA along with payment proof for the pre-registration fee (250 Euro). Please refer to "ISVRA 2020 CPD calendar" for more info about this module and registration to the entire course (3 modules, reduced fee available).

Registration deadline: POSTPONED to 24th of August

Haemodynamics for the anaesthetist (AN33)

The 3rd module of the 3rd level (advanced) anaesthesia course (AN33) will take place at Clinica Veterinaria dr Tomassini in Desio 18rd through 20th of November.

Lectures will include perioperative management of arrhythmias, including intraoperative thachycardia and bradycardia. Part of the course will be devoted to understanding basic echocardiography. Management of clinical cases will be part of the course.

More info at page 7-15, 28 and 31 of the ISVRA CPD calendar. To register fill in the registration form (interactive PDF) and send it by e-mail.

Registration deadline: 21st of October.

AN23: segmental epidural anaesthesia made safe and effective

Segmental epidural anaesthesia was introduced in veterinary medicine by ISVRA in 2000. AN23 (the 3rd module of the 2nd level anaesthesia course) will deal with ‘segmental epidural anaesthesia’ and in actual fact it provides the best knowledge on the topic.

Join us and learn how to perform a safe and effective epidural block using minimal doses, so that only the nerve roots supplying the surgical area and only the modalities that require to be anesthetized are affected.

The programme will include: relevant anatomy, materials (i.e. needles, catheters, LOR syringes, etc.), correct LOR technique, drug selection, and decision making. A cadaver session will allow participants to practice the Dogliotti’s approach to the epidural space. Finally, an hands-on session will be devoted to management of clinical patients undergoing surgery under epidural anaesthesia.

The course will be held in Zola Predosa (Bologna) from 13th to 15th of October. More details in the ISVRA CPD calendar (pages 7- 15, 24 and 27) available in the ‘Main menu > Formal CPD > download CPD calendar’. To register fill the ‘Registration form’ (interactive PDF) and send it by e-mail.

Registration deadline: 16th of September

AN13 - Haemodynamics and anaesthesia

Join us in Zola Predosa (Bologna) for AN13 (the 3rd module of the 1st level anaesthesia course), 11th to 13th of October. The event will be about haemodynamics for anaesthetists, including basic physiology of the cardiovascular system and haemodynamic effects of anaesthetics.

Topics: the cardiac cycle, cardiac output, arterial pressure and organ perfusion, haemodynamic effects of common anaesthetic drugs. Specific sessions will provide knowledge and skills in ECG and Arterial Blood Pressure monitoring in the anaesthetized patient. Hands on session with clinical cases included.

More details in the ISVRA CPD calendar (pages 7- 15, 20 and 23): find it in the ‘Formal CPD’ menu. To register fill ‘Registration form’ (interactive PDF) and send it by e-mail.

Registration deadline: 14th of September.
